The ASICS® GEL-Kayano® XIII running shoe continues to offer the ultimate blend of support and cushioning that the series is known for. All the fit and comfort features return as well, with the added benefit of new high tech upper materials and an expanded GEL® Cushioning System. Impact Guidance System (IGS®) enhances the foot's natural gait from heelstrike to toe-off. Solyte™ midsole material offers improved cushioning and durability. Space Trusstic® System creates a pocket between the Trusstic® System device and the midsole, allowing for greater midsole deformation and more efficient foot function. You get what you pay for. Sure, these are a bit pricier than lower models, but my feet are happy-- and that's the key. I can't run much anymore (knees), but I'm training to walk a marathon, and the key for me is how not to get blisters over the long haul. And for the first time in any shoes, after a 14 mile walk, my feet were fine. If that's not a great recommendation, I don't know what is. The caveat here is that every foot is different and some brands just fit some feet better than others. I've always been an Asics wearer-- they fit my feet just right. And for the long-distance, I went with a larger shoe. And it's perfect. But I strongly recommend you get fitted at a specialty store by experts. Once you know the shoe (and the size) that works for you, you're golden. And if these work for you, they should work as well if not better than any other running shoe you can name. I love 'em.
